Kevin is the owner and President of Medicus Wealth Planning.

Kevin got his start in the financial planning industry by working for one of the largest discount brokerage and mutual fund companies in the world, Fidelity Investments. After being promoted to a department that assisted business owners in creating and maintaining company-sponsored retirement plans, he found his passion: helping individuals and families prepare for a financially successful retirement.

In 2014, Kevin partnered with David Luke and they later formed Medicus Wealth Planning. Having the opportunity to work with clients on a fee-only basis allows Kevin to give objective and sound financial planning advice that is never tainted by a hidden agenda.

Kevin graduated from Utah Valley University with a degree in personal financial planning. Utah Valley University’s Financial Planning Program has been recognized on numerous occasions as one of the nation’s top 10 financial planning programs. Shortly after graduating with a degree in personal financial planning, Kevin became a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®). He is also an IRS Enrolled Agent (EA), which grants Kevin the right  to represent taxpayers before the IRS.

In addition to working with his clients, Kevin really enjoys writing about financial planning.  He's been quoted, published, and interviewed in a variety of news outlets including Yahoo! Over the last 25 years, Dan has worked diligently to help companies and individuals make wise financial decisions. In 2013, he felt a calling to not only help companies and people with their acquisitions, but to also help them make wise decisions with their whole financial picture. He feels particular empathy and compassion for individuals whose marriages are being torn apart by poor financial decisions. He has seen this first-hand by hosting Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University courses and doing pro bono work for churches and charities like the Salt Lake Rescue Mission. According to Dan, "Financial literacy can change the destiny of not only the present generation, but future generations as well."

Dan enrolled in the Personal Financial Planning Program at UVU in order to add textbook personal financial planning skills to his quiver of business financial skills while simultaneously working at a financial planning firm in Salt Lake City. With a CFP® designation, he is proud to help families change their destinies.

In 2018, he joined Medicus Wealth Planning because he appreciates the fee-only financial philosophy shared by everyone at the firm. Additionally, he enjoys working at a firm where there are no fiefdoms, no commissions, no products to push, no quotas and no attitude. The only thing we are interested in is attaining our clients' financial goals. Dan focuses on teaching people how to be financially literate. He does this through his workshops and the solid financial advice he delivers through his comprehensive financial planning services.

While there, he met his wife, Evelyn, while she was working towards her M.D. at the Universitaet of Essen Medical School. The Looses eventually returned to raise their family in the West. They now reside in Bountiful with their four children.

FINANCIAL ADVISOR

mark@medicuswp.com

I come from an extensive background in finance and tax. I started my career at Fidelity Investments here in Utah and eventually worked my way up to the Vice President of Sales after relocating my family to Boston, MA, Fidelity’s headquarters.

After 22 years with Fidelity, my wife, Gretchen, and I decided it was time to move back home and we settled in Kamas.  After moving back to Utah, I founded a tax firm, Durham & Company, with my brother.

Eventually, I decided to make a move back into the financial planning industry after years of my client’s asking for financial planning and investment advice. I did extensive due diligence on different firms in Park City and the Salt Lake Valley and ultimately felt that I would best align with Medicus Wealth Planning.   I’m excited to be with Medicus and offer my expertise in tax planning.

Gretchen and I love staying active.  We enjoy skiing, mountain biking, camping, hiking, and generally anytime in the great outdoors.   We also love visiting our five children and three grandchildren who are spread between Maryland, Portland, and Utah. We also volunteer time in our local church and community.

FINANCIAL ADVISOR

Professional Life

Brett first found his passion for financial planning after discovering the F.I.R.E. movement (Financial Independence, Retire Early) and realizing that personal finance was more about life planning than simply managing finances. He took this passion and went on to study accounting at the University of Utah, acquire his CFP® designation, and obtain a master’s degree in Financial Planning. He hopes to instill this same passion into the people he meets.

Desiring authenticity with clients, Brett decided to start his career at a fee-only financial planning firm in Murray, UT where he worked for nearly 5 years. Brett joined Medicus after meeting the team and appreciating the no-nonsense philosophy of acting as fiduciaries for clients.

Education and Designations

  • CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®)
  • MS – Financial Planning—College for Financial Planning
  • BS – Accounting — University of Utah
